Therapy For Men Who Cheat

Cheating once may be a moment of weakness, it may be down to alcohol or it may just be a misguided decision. Cheating once probably does not need therapy. Cheating more than once, cheating frequently may mean there are commitment issues, it may be a symptom of self sabotage or it may be a symptom of addiction or many other reasons that are found in the subconscious more than the conscious mind. Ongoing cheating may mean that there is need for therapy but getting therapy for men who cheat is probably not going to be easy until some real damage is done to their lives. This is for two reasons:

  • Men who cheat regularly will either be doing it because they think they want to and therefore won't have any remorse which is fine for them but not their partners, or they will be so full of remorse after each dalliance that they will sincerely believe they won't do it again until they do, unless the subconscious pattern that makes them do it can be changed. The subconscious pattern is the cause and cheating is the effect so the effect will not change unless the cause can be dealt with.

  • Therapy is not top of a man's priorities. We tend to think that we can handle things ourselves and do not like to ask directions, read instructions...or go to therapy.

Like any other issue, there is not a lot that can be done about the first obstacle to getting therapy for men who cheat as you cannot help someone who does not want to be helped, but there are ways around the second one.

Therapy is not necessarily appealing to men as it is traditionally thought of as a little fluffy with a lot of talking about emotions, maybe dwelling on painful memories and whether childhood was happy etc. Talking therapies such as counselling or psychotherapy can be very effective but they do take time and people can often feel worse before they get better.

An ideal therapy for men is hypnosis. Some talk about the problem such as the client's desire to cheat and some background about previous relationships and how cheating makes them feel is necessary but the actual change work can be very quick and tends to be with metaphor more than literal events. It can even be good fun.

I am a hypnotist in Worthing and I see very fast results with my clients even for issues which seem complicated at first glance. I do not often see people more than two times. Whether it is you looking for therapy or a husband or boyfriend who needs counselling but won't go it is worth thinking about hypnosis as an ideal alternative to counselling or any other therapy as fast results are easier on everyone concerned and the strong possibility of such fast results is more appealing than a long drawn out process.

The ideal therapy for men with commitment issues or any other emotional problem is hypnosis as it is less about change more than therapy.
