Hypnosis For Anxiety And The Power Of Your Own Vulnerability

Sometimes, if you come and see me for hypnosis for anxiety in Worthing, it may not be appropriate to get rid of the anxiety completely but to simply give you the strength to face it and push through so you can grow who you are into who you want to be.

Anxiety is a a feeling, a process, that has evolved over millions of years to keep us safe – away from perceived hazards. Our mind's absolute priority is to keep us safe so that we survive as individuals and therefore as a species. Anxiety can have a significantly detrimental effect on happiness though, as it can keep your world very small and the smaller your world the harder it is to find everything that you want and this can cause an inner conflict.

Happiness is not essential to survival but survival is a whole lot more enjoyable with happiness and so some sort of balance needs to be found in order to be able to expose yourself to vulnerability, to take risks and have new experiences, to go where there are no guarantees and to find treasures that will make your life happier and more fulfilling.

When Christopher Columbus set sail for the horizon, he did so on nothing but blind faith that he was not going to sail over the edge of a flat world into oblivion. Maps had images of sea monsters in the open seas in times gone by, legends constructed in order to frighten people in order to keep them safe from the risks of exploring those seas. Guardians of the threshold between the known and unknown.

Your mind does this whenever you think about going for a new job, asking someone out on a date, going somewhere or doing something unusual, ending an unhealthy relationship – in order to change any familiar situation in your life, whether it is good or bad, your mind will awaken a legend to make you think twice. This legend is anxiety in whatever form it makes itself known to you – whether a myth about the edge of the world, a sea monster or a fear of failure – the anxiety should not stop you, it is there to test how much you want that change so that if you want it more than what you already have, you will expose yourself to that anxiety, make yourself vulnerable in order to take that risk and you will be happier for it. Probably, but the only guarantee is in not trying in the first place.

Fear and anxiety is an important part of life and a life without it may be short, but to change your relationship with it so that it is a part of rather than ruler of you will really change your life experience.
