Does Hypnosis Work For Phobias?

As a hypnotist working in Sussex, I get asked questions like does hypnosis work? Is hypnosis real? The answer is a very simple yes, but it is hard one to believe, even for me. I am building a career out of helping people rid themselves of simple or complex emotional problems that they have had for years, usually in just one or two sessions, and I still find it hard to believe when they tell me that they feel better, feel excited, that they are thinking clearer or that they feel they are able to do things they could not face before we started talking. When I make my follow up contact a week or two later they confirm the same things. The mind is a beautiful thing and if it can create feelings and emotional constructs that hold you back then it can create the same that set you free. I just need to give it the right guidance.

So how does hypnosis work for phobias? Phobias form usually when you are young but not always – they are a reaction to an emotional experience or something you have learned from a parent or someone else close to you when you were growing up. The purpose of a phobic reaction is to keep you away from objects or situations that your mind perceives as dangerous even though they are not. The reaction is not a rational or conscious one so it is a pattern that is run subconsciously. I have various ways of talking to the subconscious mind in hypnosis and changing that pattern so that you get a different reaction. Phobias will rarely take more than one session to cure.

And the answer is the same for questions such as: Does hypnosis work for needle phobia? Does hypnosis work for social phobia? Or does hypnotherapy work for driving phobia? Because it does not matter what the phobia is, the psychology is the same and the phenomenon of hypnosis is the same no matter what the trigger is of the phobic reaction.

The same goes for questions such as Does hypnosis work for insomnia, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, erectile dysfunction, or self confidence. The answer is a universal Yes, so long as you can be hypnotised and the best way to find that out is to go and see a hypnotist or a hypnotherapist. I would recommend that before you commit to seeing them for treatment you find out if they are confident in answering that question for you because some use relaxation techniques but do not really understand hypnosis. I answer this question within the first 30 minutes of our first session as this gives me and you an indication of whether I can help you or not.
