Depression As Treated In Hypnosis By A Sussex Hypnotherapist

I don't believe there is such thing as depression, it is a metaphor, a label for a pattern that is running in the mind, a pattern that is unique to you. The metaphor of Depression is really helpful to understand the experience but it is not useful to fixing the problem. As soon as you start to understand yourself in terms of depression you become locked into the diagnosis and it becomes part of you – you start to understand yourself in terms of the condition. You do not have depression, your subconscious mind is just running patterns that make you feel depressed. Like fear and anxiety, I believe that the depression pattern is a subconscious strategy to keep you safe and secure and free of risk or surprises by subduing your enthusiasm. Your subconscious is doing it's job to protect you, but it does not weigh all the options when picking a strategy and once its decided on a pattern that achieves it's goal – safety – it'll keep doing what it's doing even if you're not happy. In hypnosis though, when treating depression, like treating anxiety in Worthing, I can present the subconscious mind with better options and change the pattern.

I've heard depression likened to a heavy feeling, a prison, blackness, numbness, it differs from person to person, but all of these things are metaphors that I can work with, all of them are more useful metaphors than 'Depression'. In hypnosis I can work with the subconscious and change these metaphors and if we can change the metaphor, we can change the pattern. Changing the pattern will change your life.

Hypnotherapy with me is not fluffy, not about tranquillity, relaxation and positive thinking – these can be imposed upon you by a therapist reading generic scripts to treat the metaphor of depression that may not be relevant to you. I do not use scripts. A session with me will be unique to you and your experience, it is a two way process so I can check that what I am doing is effective. I guide you to do what you need to do find the pattern and change it. I have had one client change a heavy weight into a bird and another who changed herself from a small cat to a panther. If you don't want to float in the clouds I won't ask you to. Come and see me in West Sussex and I will change your life.
