Worthing Hypnotist Explores Christmas Sentiment ‘Just Believe’.
I will guiltily admit that I have had the odd Christmas movie on in the background the last couple of days and a fairly common theme is 'just believe'. When I first heard the phrase this year, I scoffed a little, thinking it is a nice sentiment for children but idealistic nonsense for adults, but then I got to thinking:
For some people with resources and opportunities and education and good people around them just believing is enough, to keep them comfortable at least. Brought up in certain environments things will tend to be taken care of – you do not live to survive.
Many others have decent enough environments but have to work hard in order to keep them that way or to improve upon them or change them. For them believing is important but it is not enough. They have to act on those beliefs, follow them through with action. The belief enables them to live and enjoy what they have while working hard to keep it or make it better even.
Then there are those who have nothing except for belief. I am fortunate to say that this is not a way of living that I am familiar with but I think it is fair to say that belief is important – without belief there is no hope and without hope, what is the point?
The point that I am trying to make is that 'just believing' is not enough to live an enriching life. You have to believe in yourself and that anything is possible. You have to believe enough so that you will notice opportunities when they arise and to act on your own self-belief when they are there. You have to believe enough so that when some of those opportunities do not work out you keep believing.
As a child belief is enough – imagination is enough to keep reality interesting. As an adult you must hold on to that imagination but reality is your responsibility. Do not let grown-up life take it away. As a child your job is to imagine, but as an adult your job is to make as many as possible of those imaginings actually happen. Humans have never created anything that did not start in the imagination! Belief is the first step. It is not the be all and end all. It is not enough on its own unless you and your world already has everything that you can possible imagine.
If you are in or around Worthing or interested in a Skype hypnosis session and you feel you need help believing in anything (except maybe Santa) I'd be happy to hear from you in the New Year.
Now look at the picture above and look into my eyes....as you look into my eyes do exactly as I say....and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from me, Alex Vrettos, your Worthing Hypnotist.
