A Good Way To Recover If You Have Been A Victim Of Crime

There are many different types of crime and many ways to experience crime. You can never be sure how you will respond to such an experience until it happens. As a hypnotist I help people recover from trauma, but usually only after my clients have experienced a long time of emotional struggles. I have also worked for Sussex Victim Support for over three years and spent a lot of time talking to people immediately after they have been a victim.

An emotional reaction after any traumatic event is perfectly natural. Immediately after the event that is all that it is – an emotional reaction – but that reaction, if left unresolved, can create patterns of thought and behaviour that lead to more complicated mental health issues such as anxiety and depression over time.

If you are unlucky and find yourself a victim of crime or any other traumatic experience, if you find yourself flashing back, not sleeping well, having nightmares, avoiding going out, and if these changes don’t seem to be fading within a few days of the incident you could save yourself months or years of emotional or psychological discomfort by seeing a hypnotist such as myself and resolving that emotional reaction sooner before it grows into something more complicated.

Sometimes it is hard to accept what has happened and then let it go, sometimes the fear from that experience leaks into other areas of your life, sometimes the anger can distract you from focusing on the good things in your life. All of this happens subconsciously and hypnosis facilitates talking to the subconscious mind and making those changes so that you can move on as you did before so that being a victim of crime is a temporary thing not a permanent one.
